Several issues that need attention in 3D printing

2020-10-13

Nowadays, 3D printing is widely used in our daily lives, but we should still pay attention to the following issues when using 3D printing:

1, pore

During the 3D printing process of parts, very small cavities inside will form pores. These micro-holes will reduce the overall density of the part, leading to cracks and fatigue problems. It can adopt the mode of laser partition scanning and can also reduce the amount of pores. Reduce powder splash by adjusting the shape of the spot.

2, residual stress
When the residual stress exceeds the tensile strength of the material or the substrate, defects will occur, which usually cause cracks in the parts or warpage of the substrate. The residual stress can be reduced by adding support structures or the substrate and materials can be heated before printing

3, crack
Molten metal solidification or further heating of a certain area will cause cracks. Some cracks can be repaired by post-processing, but delamination cannot be resolved by post-processing.

4, warpage
During printing, if the thermal stress of the substrate exceeds its strength, the substrate will warp, which will eventually cause the part to warp, and there will be a risk of the squeegee hitting the part. Adding the right amount of support at the right position can effectively prevent warping

5, density
The more pores in the part, the lower the density, and the easier it is to fatigue or crack in a stressed environment. Spherical particles will not only improve the fluidity of the powder, but also increase the density of the parts. Good powder fluidity is very necessary to ensure the flatness and density of spreading powder. Just as you think, it will affect the porosity and density of the product.
